With the yet-unnamed 23rd James Bond film moving ahead into production soon, some forward progress on casting for the film has been made, if not fully completed quite yet, which may steer the Daniel Craig-007verse back a bit toward Fleming’s original ensemble.
According to an article by The Daily Mail this weekend, Naomie Harris is in final negotiations to play Miss Moneypenny in BOND 23 which is due in theaters for Fall 2012. Harris, most recently seen in the second and third PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films as ocean enchantress Tia Dalma, reportedly met with director Sam Mendes about the role earlier this year and now is close to signing on as Bond’s flirtatious foil and M’s assistant at MI6.
The Brit tabloid also claims that Harris will join previously rumored co-star Javier Bardem, supposedly confirming the NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN actor as the BOND 23 villain, alongside HARRY POTTER baddie Ralph Fiennes in an undefined role in the film. Judi Dench is expected to reprise her role as Bond’s boss M opposite Craig for their third combined outing in the franchise.
FilmEdge awaits official confirmation from MGM and the Bond filmmakers on all these casting possibilities, but we’ll report any progress we can detect.
