After today’s Facebook chat session via WETA Live from Wellington, the Apes Will Rise page for the upcoming feature RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES released 8 hi-res pieces of concept art.
FilmEdge recapped today’s chat session, which included visual effects team members Joe Letteri and Dan Lemmon who were joined by actor Andy Serkis for the webcast. Serkis performed the motion-capture characterization of the chimpanzee Caesar, which the chat confirmed has its intelligence boosted by genetic engineering by human scientists — in fact, Serkis describes Caesar as a “hybrid” between ape and man in a modern alteration of the classic APES franchise character first seen in the 1970s series.
Below are the eight pieces of concept art released today, picturing Caesar in a couple images along with apes rising up against humanity in a San Francisco environment. Click to view an image in full-size.
