FilmEdge opens coffin lid on DARK SHADOWS coverage with Depp video

FilmEdge begins our coverage of DARK SHADOWS on a stormy weekend, unearthing the latest news and casting rumors for director Tim Burton‘s feature remake of the campy, classic 1960s gothic daytime melodrama starring Johnny Depp as the resurrected, reluctant vampire Barnabas Collins. The Warner Brothers film goes into production this April with a 2012 release date in theaters.

Recent updates include Johnny Depp’s interview with MTV Movies: while promoting the CG-animated comedy RANGO, Depp previews his portrayal of Barnabas as a faithful extension of Jonathan Frid‘s iconic work creating the character in the original TV series. Depp has spoken many times about being a devoted fan of DARK SHADOWS and Frid’s Collins character in particular, as he now fulfills one of his earliest acting dreams taking on the part.

We also open the lid on rampant casting speculation about such stars as Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate.
