Comic-Con Friday schedule released: the force is with Star Wars

Today at the Comic-Con 2010 website, the programming schedule for Friday July 23 debuted with STAR WARS leading the list.  Six special programs will involve various worlds of George Lucas’ universe:

  • DK Publishing hosts their panel Star Wars: From Banthas to X-Wings, previewing many of their upcoming franchise titles including Star Wars Year by Year, and Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition.  All panel attendees will be entered to win something from the DK SW library. 10-11am, Room 7AB
  • Hasbro follows immediately afterward with their panel previewing toy releases scheduled for the remainder of 2010, plus some promised secret peeks at what’s in store for 2011.  11am-12pm, Room 7AB
  • A Star Wars Collectible Update follows as Chris Spitale of Lucasfilm Licensing and collectible creators preview the hottest items in the pipeline for Jedi young and old.  12-1pm, Room 7AB
  • Online gamers eagerly anticipating Star Wars: The Old Republic won’t want to miss Beyond Solo: Crafting the Multiplayer Story panel, hosted by BioWare’s creative team to discuss the genesis of this MMO debuting next year. 1-2pm, Room 7AB
  • Lucasfilm Animation artists Dave Filoni, Joel Aron and Killan Plunkett take you Inside the Force with their panel inviting you into the creative process from script to screen in making an episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.  A discussion of how the series’ animation style has developed from Season One will give attendees a glimpse into Seaason Three coming this fall.  2-3pm, Room 7AB
  • The crew from the San Diego Star Wars Society will host a Star Wars Trivia Game Show, as seen at previous Celebration and Comic-Con events.  A special trivia game round will be devoted to kids 12 and under, with prizes available to all ages of trivia masters.  3-4pm, Room 7AB

Other highlights from the Friday panel list include:

  • Marvel Interactive: Marvel Video Games will offer exclusive info and trailers for Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Thor and other new games, Q&A discussion and more.  11:15am-12:15pm, Room 6DE
  • AMC’s The Walking Dead previews the upcoming zombiefied cable series based on the Image comic book series, premiering in October. 11:30am-12:30pm, Room 6BCF
  • SyFy presents an exclusive glimpse into the future of Caprica with series cast and creators.  11:30am-12:30pm Ballroom 20
  • Fantasy  and comic art will be Remembering Frank Frazetta and Al Williamson in a celebration of both artists’ work and careers, hosted by a panel of artist and authors.  12:30-1:30pm, Room 3
  • Guillermo del Toro fans won’t miss Miramax Films’ panel for Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, as producer/co-writer del Toro and director Troy Nixey offer an exclusive preview of their upcoming horror film starring Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes and Bailee Madison. 2:15-3:45pm, Hall H
  • Gamers who like the dark side will like Building a Horror Entertainment Franchise: Dead Space 2, previewing the highly anticipated console sequel coming in January 2011.  The game creative/production team will unveil plans to expand the game franchise universe into a novel, animated feature, graphic novel, Motion Comic game and merchandising.  3:30-4:30pm, Room 3
  • Sony Pictures offers sneak preview glimpses of two upcoming titles, The Other Guys and The Green Hornet.  Special panel guest appearances by Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Eva Mendes and co-writer/director Adam McKay host The Other Guys segment, while actors Seth Rogan and Christoph Waltz, director Michel Gondry, writer Evan Goldberg and producer Neal Moritz preview The Green Hornet in 3D. 4-6pm, Hall H
  • HBO takes a bite of Comic-Con with their True Blood panel and Q&A, featuring many of the creators and cast of the bloody popular vampire series.  5:15-6:15pm, Ballroom 20
  • Enjoy some laughs Friday night with RiffTrax Live as Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett return to riff their MST-alumni comedy on another classic short film.  7-8pm, Room 6DE
