A summer of new motion picture and theme park history begins at Universal Studios Hollywood this July as both the rebuilt New York streets backlot and Peter Jackson’s “mini-sequel” KING KONG 360 3-D attraction debut July 1st.
In May, Hollywood filmmakers and celebrities joined Universal executives to open the redesigned and enhanced new backlot production sets and facilities, rebuilt from the ashes of the Studio’s fire two years ago.
Now Kong returns to his old stomping grounds on the Universal Hollywood Studio Tour in an all-new attraction, surrounding guests in a 360° 3-D battle between the giant ape and rampaging dinosaurs on Skull Island. The ground will quake and your tram will shake as these ferocious beasts collide all around, putting you in the middle of the action via digital 3-D movie magic and physical effects.
Director Peter Jackson joined forces with the WETA Digital visual effects team and Universal Creative to conceive and design this all-new tram tour attraction, once again returning Kong to his studio home in Hollywood. Check out this video which offers you preview glimpses of the inspiration and creation of this new monster adventure for the 21st century:
